Employee Recognition Programs

Employee Recognition Yields Positive Results

Posted by | 11-12-2019

Putting employees first can create a strong connection between employee trust and company performance. Companies with high degrees of worker trust result in greater productivity, innovation and retention. Happier employees also contribute to a positive company culture. Remember how you felt the last time someone told you what a great job you were doing? That’s why it’s so important to make time to praise employees for a job well done. Recognition makes people feel really good about themselves. It also motivates employees to keep up the good work. Positive reinforcement sets an example for everyone in your organization, showing them the kind of work you value most. Employee services recognition programs within companies create positive work environments where people are more productive and take greater pride in the work they do. Offering employees free company apparel and other logo merchandise can be a simple, inexpensive way to say, ‘thank you’ as part of your employee service recognition program. You could simply present a certificate in honour of a specific achievement or encourage employees give each other on-the-spot accolades on a community bulletin board or internal website. This allows employees to recognize their peers directly.  Recognize departments on a rotating basis can be an effective tool inside an employee recognition program. Each month a designated bulletin board could highlight their contributions to the business and recognize their personal achievements. Employee service awards are an important way to show staff that their contributions over the years are valued. Employees shouldn’t have to fight for recognition. When an employee does something excellent, it should be acknowledged. Employees want to be recognized for their work in a way that’s valuable for them. A surefire way to disengage employees is to not recognize them or to recognize them in a way that they think is embarrassing. Creating employee engagement includes finding ways to deliver positive feedback in the employee’s preferred style. They want to feel like they are part of the team. We spend more time with our employees, and they with us, than our friends and family. Teams are forced to interact and support one another, whether they like it or not. As leaders, we need to do what we can to make our environments a pleasant place to come every day. Recognition is why your employees won't have anxiety on Sunday afternoon at the thought of starting a new workweek, and why they will show up on Monday with a smile, and an understanding of the importance of their contributions. It's why they’ll stay at your organization. When companies celebrate their employees, everyone wins. Employees are happier. There is less burnout and turnover. Employee recognition programs transform workers, teams and companies.
